This is a detail from my artwork, 'A Gorilla Named Snowflake'.
The only known albino gorilla, he was given the moniker "Snowflake" in a 1967 National Geographic article.
This unique western lowland gorilla was known worldwide.
Books and poems have been written about him.
Films have been made about him, and a scholarship, as well as an asteroid have been named in his honor.
During his life he had 21 offspring and 2 granddaughters.
Snowflake lived at the Barcelona Zoo from 1966 until his death in 2003.
This charcoal pencil on paper artwork was completed Jan 20, 2022.
