Artist's Description

Completed Sep, 2005 at Wason Pond in New Hampshire, this is my first plein air artwork.
It was also my first time using oil pastel sticks.

My daughters were a quick study, fortunately,
the woods were more patient with me.

With the fallen purple berries found on the ground I stained/washed the water (and sky),
for that pond-made-of-grape-juice feel.

The exposed roots in the foreground looked like petrified snakes.
